New Character Designs
Jan. 5th, 2010 | 10:48 pm
Here's a couple of new Character designs, I seem to have a detective and Sci-Fi fixation at the moment?
This fella's called Husky Baboon, the Primate Detective (see what I did there?).

Here's some kind of Space Ranger or something I rather like the little robot even if he does have the same kind of big eyed cyclops look that Brian the cat has from Hetty Grubb?

Morris the Paintiest Monster
Oct. 20th, 2009 | 08:25 pm
Take a look what landed on my doormat over the weekend! A couple of weeks ago, I had the good fortune of winning a painting of
jabberworks rather ace 'Morris the Mankiest Monster', which for anyone who isn't in the know is her new picture book. If you haven't already, go and buy it now. If you've got kids they'll love it. If you don't, don't worry you'll love it too. Considering it's a hardback with a lovely glossy cover, you can get it at a very reasonable price via the usual well known internet book selling chaps, so would make a great christmas gift.

Here's a close up on the painting, how amazing is that!

To celebrate, I thought I'd have a go at drawing the discusting little blighter.

It can't nearly be Christmas?

Christmas card idea, I'm going to call him Christmas Ste.

Here's a little knight fella, and a picure of me in a plane (why not, more people should draw themselves in planes!).

City of Death

Yep, it's more drawings that will mean nothing to anyone uninterested in Doctor Who, my apologies!
City of Death
The Wet Vet
This week I've mostly been listening to the BBC audio dramas of 'Sherlock Holmes' in an attempt to capture the atmosphere before ploughing into writing the script for 'Sheringham Fox' comic.

Could it be Magic?
Sep. 10th, 2009 | 08:15 pm
So Derren Brown successfully managed to predict the six winning lottery tickets live on TV last night, a neat little illusion and I'll be intrigued to see how he did it on tomorrow nights show. What has slightly irritated me today is the level of negativity that has surrounded the whole thing, with many people of accusing him of being a con man and a fraud and even being in cahoots with the National Lottery to bump up ticket sales. Even asking why, if he can do it, why is he not off on some tropical island sunning himself with his millions? Erm, have I missed something here or is the guy not an illusionist, who freely admits it's all misdirection and suggestion and that he has no magical powers? It's a trick, for goodness sake! You don’t accuse a magician of being a fraud when he cuts someone in two, you know it’s a trick and wonder how the hell they did it?
It's the attitude that some people that seem to think he's trying to get one over them, rather than enjoying it for what it is - entertainment, half the fun is in not knowing and trying to figure it out. I even heard someone calling him a W*nker today for doing the trick? In that case, what does that make Houdini? Sadly as soon as it's revealed how he has done it, it will be dismissed by some as a let down, but how can it be anything but a let down if your original expectation is that he has magically plucked the numbers out of thin air?

Sheringham Fox - Coloured
Sep. 9th, 2009 | 09:35 pm

EDIT: Just been thinking, I want to aim this strip at kids with enough for adults to get something out of it. However, I keep drawing Fox with a pipe, anyone think it's a problem having a main character who smokes in a kids comic? Maybe I could get around it if he blows bubbles out of his pipe or something?

Sheringham Fox
Sep. 8th, 2009 | 10:24 pm
Oh and here's some character designs for another strip I'm working on. It's kind of a Sherlock Holmes / Victorian Murder Mystery type pastiche? Working title at the moment is ' The Casebook of Sheringham Fox'. His Watson like side kick is called Buxley (at the moment).
